About ModelWorks

ModelWorks International (Sales) Ltd manufactures and sells a range of large scale, engineered kits direct to the Customer.

ModelWorks is a private company. We occupy our own 11.000 sq ft facility in Daventry, England. This facility houses Administration, Sales, Technical Support and Design teams. It is though primarily a manufacturing site with a large machining area (both CNC and manual) together with boiler shop for both copper and steel boilers an extensive stores / packing area and an assembly area for our control models.

All parts supplied are fully machined ready for assembly after final de-burring, sanding and paint.

Most models may be purchased over a fixed period of time with kits arriving at regular intervals to enable the Customer to 'build as he/she buys'.

Certain models are held in stock. Please enquire. The kits for these models may be purchased all at one time. Assembly can then be carried out at the Customer's own pace.

Building and painting your model is a significant accomplishment, a source of pride for years to come. It could be regarded as an heirloom to be passed on to future generations. A fun activity to share with your family and friends, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

We have some Customers who have built every model we have produced. Others started with a small model such as the Bagnall and are now building our largest and most complex models.

Kits are designed to be assembled with limited access to engineering facilities and machine tools. Boilers are supplied fully constructed, either silver soldered (brazed) throughout if made of copper or welded if made of steel. Both types are hydraulically tested to twice working pressure.

We now have over 1000 Customers worldwide enjoying a hobby that was previously, for various reasons not available to them.

We would recommend joining a local Model Engineering / Live Steam club in your area to meet fellow, like minded folks who will offer advice with building and steaming you new locomotive. (see our links page for an extensive list of clubs Worldwide)

Model Engineers / Live Steamers, both new and experienced in the hobby will appreciate the advantages of kit building, which can realise a completed locomotive or vehicle in 10% or less of the time usually taken with the previously traditional building method from scratch.

Buying one or our products in kit form is an excellent way of achieving the goal of owning a Steam Locomotive, both rail or road in the time available to you. Our range of clocks would grace any home however large or small.
